Abstract
This research report analyzes the current demand for graduates from English teacher education programs in Guangdong Province and explores future development trends, with a particular focus on recruitment for primary and secondary school English teaching positions. As globalization and educational internationalization progress, graduates from English teacher education programs face increasing employment pressure. Through a variety of research methods, including literature review, questionnaire surveys, and in-depth interviews, this report examines employers’ expectations for graduates' competencies, with particular emphasis on teaching ability, innovation capacity, and cross-cultural communication skills. The findings reveal that employers place a greater emphasis on graduates' practical skills and comprehensive qualities, especially within the context of the new curriculum reform. The report explores possible reforms in the training of English teacher education program graduates and proposes recommendations for optimizing curriculum design, enhancing practical teaching, and expanding international perspectives.
