Abstract
This paper discusses the changing academic environment linking Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects to investor sentiment using bibliometric and thematic analysis. The data was retrieved from Scopus and Web of science (WoS) databases, which gave 152 articles after eliminating duplicates, filtering of titles and abstract, as per B-SLR framework. The bibliometric analysis was performed with the help of R (Biblioshiny) to visualize the publication trends, influential authors, and leading sources, and VOSviewer was used to visualize the networks of keywords co-occurrence. Thematic analysis revealed five conceptual themes that influence the research field of ESG-investor sentiment: ESG Impact on Financial Outcomes and Stakeholder Perceptions, Dynamics of ESG Ratings, Disagreement, and Investor Behavioral Responses, ESG and Sustainability in Financial Risk Management and Market Dynamics, Transparency, Authenticity, and Perceptual Challenges in ESG Disclosure. The paper also presents a detailed future research plan, which includes the development of new directions, including the inclusion of behavioral finance theories, the use of real-time sentiment data provided by other sources, and the investigation of the ESG sentiment dynamics in different market settings. This paper synthesized bibliometric trends and thematic revelations to add to a systematic comprehension of the ESG-investor sentiment nexus and offers a roadmap towards future studies in the same field.
