A study mainly focuses on extent of participation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act beneficiaries in Salem District. The present study was conducted in Thalaivasal block of Salem District.  Salem district has been administratively divided in to twenty blocks. Out of these blocks Thalaivasal block has higher number of beneficiaries. So, it was selected as a study area. For the selection of the respondents based on the proportionate random sampling technique was followed to select a sample size of one hundred twenty respondents. The data were collected from each of the respondent through personal interview methods with the help of interview schedule. The results revealed that, half of the beneficiaries (50.00 per cent) had medium level of participation followed by 31.67 per cent and 18.33 per cent under high and low level of participation respectively.
