Abstract

Research is needed to improve understanding of human environment systems towards climate forcing, feedbacks, responses, and thresholds in the earth system and climate-related human behaviors and institutions. Research is required to support effective responses to climate change vulnerability and adaptation analyses of coupled human-environment systems. This paper examines the research needs and identifies the research areas in the context of climate change. It outlines the research issues to mitigate the impact of climate change on environment, agriculture, biodiversity, human health, energy, forest, wet lands, range lands, oceans, water, waste management and capacity building. This paper makes a special note on research issues on capacity building, climate change policy, climate change mitigation and climate change adaptation. This paper concludes with some interesting findings.
