Abstract
Agripreneurship has emerged as an important driver of agricultural development, rural employment and economic resilience in India. This study examines the status of agripreneurship in Odisha with special emphasis on socio-demographic characteristics, technological adoption, institutional support and the effectiveness of government initiatives. Primary data were collected from 420 agripreneurs across seven districts of Odisha using a structured questionnaire. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square tests to examine associations among key variables. The findings reveal balanced participation of male and female agripreneurs, with the majority belonging to economically active age groups. Horticulture, crop farming, livestock, agri-tech and agro-processing emerged as the major agribusiness activities. The study identified lack of technical knowledge, bureaucratic delays, financial constraints and supply chain disruptions as the major challenges affecting agripreneurial growth. Chi-square analysis revealed a significant association between technological adoption and market access, indicating that the use of technological tools improves market connectivity among agripreneurs. However, no significant relationship was found between technological adoption and access to financial assistance, highlighting persistent institutional and financial barriers. The study also found moderate to low levels of awareness and accessibility of government support programmes, with no significant association observed between awareness, accessibility and perceived policy effectiveness. The study highlights the need for stronger capacity-building programmes, simplified financial procedures, improved policy outreach and enhanced digital integration to create a sustainable and inclusive agripreneurship ecosystem in Odisha.
