First-year education students from three higher education institutions in Davao del Norte participated as respondents of the study. Data were collected through adapted survey questionnaires on persistence and self-efficacy and a standardized test for achievement in mathematics, specifically on the course Mathematics in the Modern World. Findings revealed that the level of persistence of first-year education students was high, the level of self-efficacy of first-year education students was moderate, and the level of achievement in mathematics of first-year education students was high. Both persistence and self-efficacy showed a strong positive correlation with achievement in mathematics and equally influenced achievement in mathematics.
