Abstract
The study measures social inequality among social groups in Karnataka. Social inequality is defined as the differences between the social statuses of different population groups such as classes, castes, and age groups. This paper is taken from NSSO 61st and 68th round data estimates for social inequality. The overall study estimates that inequality in education level, household occupation, land ownership, cooking fuel, Ration cords, household lighting and land ownership in division-wise in the state. This study observed that Kalaburagi division for more inequality in the state, and Bangalore and Mysore division for increased level of education, occupation, cooking fuel and lighting facility etc, and the SC and ST castes are more backward castes, the education level, occupation and lighting facility has improved in 68th round and the lowest development for 61st round in the state. Social inequality is there in backward districts, taluks and divisions in the state.
