Color is a significant area of investigation since it offers insights into human cognition and classification of reality. To consider for studying is on describing language in use, in a contextual perspective and by means of a corpus-based analysis of such considerations as collocation, colligation, semantic preference and semantic prosody. It also evidences cases of diachronical changes in semantic preference and suggests potential applications in the area of language learning and translation studies. This work gives the analysis of the frequency of their use in phraseological units of the English and Uzbek languages and the research reveals differences and similarities of semantic connotations of colour components.
