Form the ancient, Buddhist, Muslim, and British eras to the post-independence reforms, this essay provides a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of teacher education India. It covers important suggestions from notable commissions and policies, including the Radhakrishnan, Mudaliar, and Kothari Commissions, and policies such as the NEP (1968, 1986, 2020). Each contributed to restructuring teacher training, professional development, and institutional quality. Even with advancements, there are still issues with guaranteeing accountability, openness, and efficient policy execution. The study comes to the conclusion that improving teacher education via creativity, honesty, and ongoing evaluation is essential to reaching national educational goals and sustainable development.
