Abstract
This article analyzes the development of industrial production in the Khorezm region during the period of 1991–2000, focusing on the economic transformations that occurred in the early years of Uzbekistan’s independence. The study examines the structural changes in the industrial sector, the decline and gradual recovery of production, and the role of economic reforms in the formation of new industrial relations. Special attention is given to the transition from a centrally planned economy to market-based economic mechanisms and its impact on the functioning of industrial enterprises in the region. The article also highlights the importance of attracting foreign investment, establishing joint ventures, and developing small and medium-sized businesses as key factors in revitalizing industrial production. Based on statistical data and archival sources, the research reveals the main trends, challenges, and achievements in the industrial development of the Khorezm region during the first decade of independence. The findings demonstrate that despite initial economic difficulties, structural reforms and investment policies contributed to the gradual stabilization and modernization of the regional industrial sector.
