Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program and teachers’ perceptions of its role in reducing malnutrition among public elementary school learners. A descriptive–correlational research design employing a quantitative approach was utilized. The respondents consisted of 86 public elementary school teachers from selected schools in the Division of Davao de Oro, selected through purposive criterion-based sampling due to their direct involvement in the program. Data were collected using a structured, researcher-adapted survey questionnaire and analyzed using mean and standard deviation, Pearson product–moment correlation and multiple regression analysis. Findings revealed that the level of implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program and teacher involvement were generally high. A statistically significant relationship was found between program implementation and malnutrition reduction. Among the indicators, level of program implementation emerged as the sole significant predictor of malnutrition reduction. The results affirmed the importance of consistent and well-structured school-based gardening programs in improving learner nutrition and health outcomes, while underscoring the role of implementation fidelity in maximizing program impact.
