Abstract
A Study To Assess The Effectiveness Of Structured Teaching Programme On Knowledge Regarding Breast Engorgement Care Among Primi Mothers In Postnatal Ward At SMVMCH, Puducherry. The obectives of the study are to assess the knowledge on breast engorgement care among primi mother ,to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme by comparing pre and post test scores and to determine the association between the pre-test level of knowledge among primi mothers regarding breast engorgement care with their selected demographic variables .One group pre-test and post-test research design was used.. Structure interview questionnaire was used to collect data by using non-probability convenient sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed and interpreted in terms of the objectives and hypothesis of this study. Effectiveness and inferential statistics were used for data analysis; the level of significance was set at 0.05 levels. And the result of study concluded that in pre test 50% of postnatal primi mothers has inadequate knowledge whereas in post test 93% postnatal primi mothers had adequate knowledge. Thus there was gain in knowledge after structure teaching programme.
