Jackfruit belongs to the MARACEAE family. Its other name is Artocarpus heterophyllus. Its shape is roughly oblong. Artocarpus heterophyllus is the largest fruit in the world, reaching up to 60 cm (about 2 feet) long and weighing up to 18 kg (about 40 pounds); it is cultivated in hotter parts of India. Jackfruits native places are the Western Ghats of India and Malaysia, and it is also found in central and eastern Africa, southeastern Asia, the Caribbean, Florida, Brazil, Australia, Puerto Rico, and many Pacific Islands. The plant has a straight, rough stem that is 1.25 thick, excluding milky latex and broad obovate leaves. Male heads are sessile with short peduncle receptacles, sometimes born on the ultimate twin. Female heads have oblong ovoid receptacles, syncarpous, and cyclists, with seeds separated by horny endocarps and sub-gelatinous exocarpus (1mm thick) oblong ellipsoid in nature. It is like sweet yellow sheaths, around 3-5mm thick, with a taste similar to pineapple but milder and less juicy. Jackfruit trees, reaching 15-20 meters tall, have glossy green leaves and small unisexual flowers on dense inflorescences from the trunk and branches.
