Through a thorough analysis of existing literature, this paper examines the psychological mechanisms behind gaslighting, its historical context, and its impact on victims. It also explores the implications of gaslighting in various contexts, including relationships, workplaces, and society as a whole. By shedding light on this pervasive but often subtle form of abuse, this review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of gaslighting and its implications for mental health, interpersonal relationships, and societal well-being
