Abstract
The study determined the viewpoints of female junior high school readers at Elizalde National High School about their experiences in reading the digitalized book material, which is Wattpad. A phenomenological qualitative study was used to identify the responses of the participants. In-depth interviews and focused group discussions were conducted to gather the data, ensuring the confidentiality, credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability of each research participant. Results revealed that reading Wattpad helped each learner to enhance their reading vocabulary, emotional maturity towards life’s situation, social relationships, and their academic growth. This qualitative study is significant as it sheds light on the evolving reading habits of young female readers in the digital age, particularly their engagement with post-modern narratives found in online platforms like Wattpad. It offers valuable insights into how digital literature fosters not only literacy development but also emotional and social growth among female adolescents. By understanding their experiences, educators and curriculum developers can better integrate digital reading materials into learning frameworks to support students’ holistic development. Moreover, this study contributes to the broader discourse on gendered reading perspectives and the transformative potential of post-modern literature in shaping the identities, values, and worldviews of young women.
