Abstract
The objective of this study is to evaluate and assess lesson plans in Filipino. The researcher employed an evaluative-developmental design. Thirteen (13) teachers handling Filipino 9 in IAD 4 served as participants in the study. The standards used by the evaluators to assess the Grade 9 lesson plans were based on the criteria set by the Department of Education (DepEd). The analysis revealed that the components of the lesson plans were rated as highly valid overall. Specifically, the indicators such as objectives, concepts, and instructions were all rated as very highly valid, while practical activities/exercises and topics were rated as highly valid. In terms of the acceptability level in developing the lesson plans, the overall rating was highly acceptable. Clarity, language and style, illustrations, and presentation all received highly acceptable ratings, while usefulness and relevance were rated as more than acceptable. It was concluded that the localization and contextualization of the Filipino 9 lesson plans are essential for helping students relate the content to real-life situations, thereby enhancing their abilities and skills. It is recommended that educational leaders address the issues faced by teachers, particularly the lack of resources, in order to meet the goals of the K to 12 curriculum. Additionally, it is proposed that the concerned authorities in the Southern Leyte division establish a group to collect literary works from the province and compile them into a book or teaching guide that can be used by teachers as a basis for instruction.
