Abstract
The Karnataka Shakti Scheme, a state-wide initiative that promotes women's mobility and empowerment, has been lauded for its potential to catalyze social and economic transformation for women across the state. However, the scheme has faced some challenges and drawn criticism from certain sectors. This study aims to investigate the efficacy, implementation challenges, and societal impacts of the scheme, focusing on its objectives, eligibility criteria, impact on various transport operators, and the voices against it. The study provides valuable insights for policymakers to improve similar initiatives in the future. Moreover, the study contributes to discussions on gender equality, empowerment, and inclusive transportation access within the state, providing valuable insights into the intersectionality of gender, transportation, and socio-economic factors.
