EXPLORING SOCIOECONOMIC FACTORS INFLUENCING RICE CONSUMPTION AND IMPORTS IN INDONESIA

Abstract
This study aims to analyze and explain the influence of production, rice consumption, population, inflation, exchange rates on food consumption and its impact on rice imports in Indonesia using the quantitative method. The analytical tool used is a statistical test using the Path Analysis model. The results of the study show that inflation has a very significant negative effect on food consumption, while the exchange rate has a very significant positive effect on consumption. Rice production has a negative effect on food consumption while Gross Domestic Regional Product (GDRP) and population have no effect on food consumption. The rupiah exchange rate and food consumption have a very significant positive effect on rice imports, while inflation has a significant positive effect on imports. Furthermore, population, rice production and GDRP have no effect on rice imports in Indonesia.
