Abstract
Natural stones have remained a fundamental element in interior design due to their aesthetic richness, durability, and natural appeal. As architectural trends continue to shift toward sustainability and authenticity, natural stones are being rediscovered as both a functional and expressive medium. This review paper aims to synthesize existing literature and industry reports to examine the diverse roles played by natural stones in interior spaces. Through secondary data derived from academic journals, design case studies, and environmental material analyses, the study explores the evolution, aesthetic value, and ecological impact of using stones such as marble, granite, limestone, and slate in interior applications. The discussion also highlights the material’s environmental implications, challenges in extraction and maintenance, and its economic positioning within the global design market. The findings suggest that natural stones not only enhance visual character but also contribute to the longevity and sustainability of built environments. There view concludes by emphasizing the necessity of balancing design excellence with responsible sourcing and sustainable production practices.
