Abstract
Raktapradoshaja Vikara comprises a group of diseases arising due to vitiation of Rakta Dhatu, which plays a vital role in maintaining life and physiological balance. Classical Ayurvedic texts emphasize that Rakta, when vitiated, leads to various pathological conditions characterized by inflammation, discoloration, and burning sensation. Among these, Vatarakta is a significant clinical entity involving the combined vitiation of Vata Dosha and Rakta. The unique pathogenesis of Vatarakta involves obstruction (Avarana) of Vata by vitiated Rakta, leading to severe pain and joint-related manifestations. This conceptual review aims to analyze the pathology of Raktapradoshaja Vikara and establish its relation with Vatarakta based on classical references. Understanding this relationship helps in better diagnosis and management through Rakta-shodhana and Vata-pacifying therapies.
