Abstract
The key purpose of this research was to develop and evaluate a contextualized instructional material in Mathematics in the Modern World (MMW). The study was descriptive research with content analysis design. The developed contextualized instructional material in Mathematics in the Modern World (MMW) adopted 4D (define, design, develop, disseminate) model. The acceptability of the developed contextualized instructional material in Mathematics in the Modern World (MMW) as evaluated by the Hospitality Management students and the experts as a whole and in terms of learning outcomes, content, activities, style and presentation, organization, creativity and assessment was rated highly acceptable. The findings showed that contextualization of instructional materials encouraged students to think about how information relates to their lives, making them to analyze, evaluate, and connect different ideas. It is recommended to the mathematics instructors to take initiative to use the contextualized instructional material into their daily pedagogy to address deficiencies in student mathematical skills and concepts and bridges the gap between mathematical concepts and their personal, everyday experiences.
