Abstract
The concept of work-life balance has gained significant attention in recent years, as individuals strive to manage the demands of their professional and personal lives. The modern workforce faces numerous challenges in achieving a balance between work and personal life, leading to decreased productivity, increased stress, and compromised overall well-being. Research has shown that achieving a balance between work and personal life is crucial for maintaining physical and mental health, building strong relationships, and enhancing overall quality of life. In developing countries, the challenges of achieving work-life balance are exacerbated by socioeconomic factors, cultural norms, and limited resources. The informal economy dominates many developing countries, where self-employment and entrepreneurship are often necessity-driven rather than opportunity-driven. This leads to blurred boundaries between work and personal life, increased working hours, and limited access to social protection and healthcare. Furthermore, cultural expectations around family and social responsibilities can add to the pressure on individuals to prioritize work over personal life. The importance of work-life balance is underscored by its impact on individual well-being and organizational performance. Studies have consistently shown that individuals who achieve a better balance between work and personal life experience reduced stress, improved physical health, and enhanced mental well-being. Moreover, organizations that support work-life balance report increased productivity, reduced turnover, and improved job satisfaction. Despite these benefits, many individuals struggle to achieve a balance between work and personal life, highlighting the need for further research in this area.
