Abstract
This study focused on the development and acceptability of an intervention package for parents’ engagement in the home learning tasks of Grade 2 pupils at Malaintos Elementary School, Dolores I District, Schools Division of Eastern Samar, during the School Year 2024–2025. The study aimed to develop an intervention package that would strengthen parental involvement in home learning and determine its acceptability and validity as perceived by parents, teachers, and education specialists. The study utilized the descriptive-developmental research design. The respondents included Grade 2 parents, Grade 2 teachers, and education specialists selected through total enumeration sampling. A researcher-made questionnaire served as the primary data-gathering instrument. The acceptability of the intervention package was assessed in terms of clarity of instructions and materials, appropriateness for Grade 2 learners, ease of implementation, and overall usefulness. The validity of the intervention package was evaluated based on content quality, relevance to parental needs, practicality and usability, and potential effectiveness. Weighted mean and descriptive statistics were used in analyzing the collected data. Findings revealed that the developed intervention package was rated “Very Highly Acceptable” by the respondents in all indicators. Likewise, expert evaluators assessed the intervention package as “Very Highly Valid” in terms of content quality, relevance, practicality, usability, and potential effectiveness. The results imply that the intervention package is an effective and practical tool in enhancing parental engagement in the home learning tasks of Grade 2 pupils. Based on the findings, the study concluded that structured intervention materials can significantly support parents in assisting their children’s learning at home. It is therefore recommended that schools adopt similar intervention packages to strengthen home-school collaboration and improve pupils’ learning experiences.
