FOSTERING SCHOOL-COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS IN RURAL SETTINGS: STRATEGIES OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN MACO NORTH DISTRICT

Abstract
Through a qualitative phenomenological study, the researcher aimed to uncover the experiences, coping strategies, and school-community partnership framework pertaining to fostering school-community partnerships in the rural settings from the perspective of elementary school teachers. The study’s participants were ten (10) elementary school teachers from schools situated within Maco North District. The lived experiences of elementary school teachers in fostering school-community partnership encompassed building strong partnerships, overcoming engagement barriers, and navigating resource limitations. Meanwhile, the themes for the coping strategies included effective communication, cultivating connections, and proactive engagement. Ultimately, the themes under school-community partnership framework designed to strengthen the stakeholders’ engagement includes effective communication for trust and clarity, culturally responsive inclusion system, and collaborative partnerships. The findings demonstrated that strong school–community partnerships required intentional relationship-building. The efforts to create inclusive and supportive environments enhanced student success and sustained collaborative, student-centered partnerships.
