The world population is becoming predominantly urban. As per the United Nation’s revised estimates world’s urban population now exceeds 2.9 billion and today, more than 47 percent of the world’s population lives in cities.Besides most of the population of more developed regions already dwelling in urban areas, while in less developed countries the process of urbanization is still acute.Urbanization refers to the movement of people permanently or temporarily from village to the city.
